Collection Information: Minimum volume required is 1.5 mL of EDTA plasma.

Collect in a pre-chilled tube.

Keep specimen on ice and deliver to lab ASAP.

Centrifuge at 4oC, aliquot plasma (1.5 mL required) then freeze. Send frozen to Endocrinology laboratory.

Comments: A single ADH/Vasopressin result is of limited diagnostic usefulness. It is recommended that this test only be ordered in conjunction with a dynamic procedure (such as a water deprivation test,) that is designed to either stimulate or suppress ADH/Vasopressin secretion.
