Interpretive Comments: This method measures IgA autoantibodies against tissue transglutaminase. The result can be negative in IgA-deficient patients with active celiac disease.

For screening to diagnose celiac disease the patient should not be on a gluten-free diet.

Repeat testing is suggested for patients with values between 7.2 and 8.8 AU/mL.
