Interpretive Comments: Urine bilirubin is positive when serum direct bilirubin is elevated.

Please note that in rare cases of gammopathy, in particular type IgM (Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia) may show a significant positive bias for total bilirubin. It is recommended that bilirubin results should always be assessed in conjunction with the patient's medical history, clinical examination and other findings.
