Collection Information: N.B: This test is an out-of-country request. Pre-approval by the Immunology section head (Dr. L. Yang ext. 35768), Monday-Friday 0800-1600 hrs is required prior to collection.

Interpretive Comments: C3 Nephritic Factor is an autoantibody that binds to the alternative pathway C3 convertase and prolongs its activity in vivo.
Special Processing: Allow the filled red top tube to clot at 22-37oC for 30-60 minutes. Centrifuge at room temperature. Aliquot into 2 storage tubes and freeze as soon as possible. Store at -20oC (preferably -70o).
Comments: This test is available exclusively to SJHC/LHSC physicians.
Method of Analysis: 2-D immunoelectrophoresis
Critical Information Required: LHSC (SRA to Immunology Lab)- ship frozen on ice packs. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
