4 mL Lavender top (EDTA) Vacutainer tube
Collection Information: Collect blood aseptically in a Vacutainer tube.

Samples collected late in the day must be spun and plasma separated within 4 hours. Store at 4C for shipment the next morning. If there is a delay of more than 24 hours, plasma MUST be frozen at -80C.
Test Schedule: Samples are tested twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday.
STAT requests must be approved by a Medical Microbiologist, on call.

Interpretive Comments: Molecular amplification techniques are to be used in conjunction with clinical findings.
Special Processing: For SRA:

After 9 pm: Centrifuge and aliquot plasma. Refrigerate and send to Microbiology the following morning. If there is a delay of more than 24 hours, plasma MUST be frozen at -80C.

Indicated for transplant patient monitoring. Test will not be performed more than once in a 7 day period.

Consultation with Medical Microbiologist is required in unusual clinical circumstances in non-transplant patients
