0-2 years: 0.5 mL Lavender top (EDTA) Microtainer
2-10 years: 2 mL Lavender top (EDTA) Vacutainer tube

Red, Gold, or Light Green (Li-heparin) top tubes are also acceptable as long as the serum or plasma is separated from the cells immediately after collection; EDTA plasma is the preferred choice due to the greater stability of PTH in blood anticoagulated with EDTA
Collection Information: Minimum volume of plasma or serum required is 700 ÁL for adult samples or 200 ÁL for pediatric samples.

Hemolyzed samples cannot be analyzed due to assay interference.

Comments: Biotin may interfere with this test. Samples should not be taken from patients receiving high biotin doses (i.e. > 5 mg/day) until at least 8 hours after the last biotin administration.

Storage & Shipment: Plasma suitable for analysis for 3 days if kept refrigerated. After 3 days, specimen must be frozen to be suitable for testing.
