Collect urine over 24 hours in a sterile container and acidify with 15 mL of 6N HCl.
NOTE: If other tests are ordered that cannot be done on acidified urine, do NOT add acid to the container. The sample will be acidified in the laboratory by adding 0.5 mL of 6N HCL to 10 mL of urine.
Store and ship refrigerated. Frozen sample is unacceptable.
