Interpretive Comments: Urine urate levels reflect the amount of dietary purines and endogenous nucleic acid breakdown. Increased urine levels usually accompany increased blood levels unless there is decreased excretion by the kidneys. Only 50% of patients with uric acid stones have increased uric acid excretion.
